I have a 9800pro 256 that was flashed to a xt and all seemed fine. But then when I cranked up the settings in HL2 I got artifacts in the console and after a little while of playing I got artifacts in the game. It only did this after I set the settings to high. I flashed it back to stock and everything cleared up. My card does have a r360 core.

Other programs didn't do this though. In 3dmark 05 I had no trouble at all. I have an arctic cooler 3 on it, had to modify it though. I had to cut off two posts and loose the back ram sink. I replaced it with separate ram sinks.

I was thinking about volt moding it but would that help? My mb is an asus A7N8X-E Deluxe and has a setting for changing the voltage for the agp card.

HL2 is putting more stress on your card than you have probably ever had before. Get a tweak program and mod your 9800 back to XT and just clock down the card until you no longer get any artifacts in HL2. Worked for an older system I had.

But wouldn't that defeat the purpose of flashing to the xt bios is to reach those speeds? Or does the xt bios speed the card up in other ways besides the core and mem speeds?
