If your Zune is draining its battery really fast after applying the latest firmware update, have no fear, this site has a solution. It worked on my Halo 3 Zune. Thanks to Ed C. for the linkage.

A few people on the official forums have issues with battery life after updating their Zune 30s to v2 Firmware. Zune doesn't charge correctly and although it says its fully charged after a few hours the battery dies. I don't think its a very common issue but if you have it see how you can try to fix it...

Hrmm, good to know as I upgraded my Zune that I bought on "black friday" to the 2.x firmware.
Have yet to see the battery problem arise just yet myself, but if so will know what to do now, that is untill they decide to address it in an update.

I was thinking about picking up a Zune but then after hearing about a new firmware I decided to hold off and wait to find out what was going on with that. After reading that, I think I may wait until the issue is addressed in another update. I haven't really decided on what new mp3 player to go with anyway.

Actually, it's something that has supposedly affected a very small # of users. Check out the user comments over at Endgadget- not only has it not affected most of the folks who posted, but their findings were opposite- that the battery life was better after the firmware.

I don't use my Zune 3 much outside of a dock so I haven't really put the battery to the test, but I can say that I like mine a lot more than the nano. It's a really nice piece of hardware if you're in the market. Personally I wouldn't wait just for something like this that already has a fix (if it even occurred in the first place).

Thx for the info, but as the post above mine pointed out some of us are not having issues :)

I have not had any battery life issues since the firmware upgrade *knocks on wood*

It affected me. I charged my Zune for 3 hrs, went running for 40 mins, when I got home battery was almost gone. I listened to it while lifting weights for 30 mins, then turned it off. Next morning it was dead, never happened on old firmware.

My Zune also have this charging bug, I will apply the fix when I get home.

strange but after i updated my 30 gig with the new firmware i actually noticed longer battery life than with the old firmware.
