Fix for BF 1.02 patching error

BF 1.02 patch needs BF2 to be installed in the default directory. When I had it installed in a diffrerent drive, I get the patching failed error. I uninstalled and installed the game in the default drive and directory and the patch proceeded without a problem (took a couple minutes to patch).

The wierd thing is that 1.01 patch didn't required the game be installed in the default drive and directory. :rolleyes:
 
Mine isn't installed into the default directory. Hell it isn't even installed on the 'default drive' :D. The patch worked fine for me.

Did you have 1.01 still installed when you tried to install 1.02 the first time? EA said to revert back to a fresh install to get rid of the first botched patch. That's probably why you got the error the first time.

I did that after the patch didn't work with a previous 1.01 patched BF2. I uninstalled and reinstalled into a non-default drive and the 1.02 patch didn't work. Uninstalled again and re-installed into the default drive and the patched worked fine. 1.02 was suppose to be a hotfix for the previous patch. It should be able to be installed on top of a 1.01 patched BF2.

I guess the game doesn't work the same for everyone. It's like the people who complained about the constant CTD, I just don't see it very often.

heh...now every server i try to connect to i get the "connection lost...bla bla bla" and then after that my server list wont refresh, meaning I have to restart the game everytime I want the server list to refresh. Every patch just keeps getting worse for me. grrr I finally get a day off work to come home and play bf2 but cant....
 
if you check the patch logs in my computer/bf2 you'll probably find you didnt have enough space on the target drive. For some reason this 14meg patch needs 2gig free to install.
