So, after months (actually years) of thinking and researching, I finally decided to try out water cooling. None of that closed loop crap, but real water cooling. I had been resistant in the past, due to lack of knowledge. But last few weeks I've been reading up on it and slowly buying the components.
Yesterday I got finished with my first WC attempt. And here are my results. I am only cooling CPU and GPU.
The CPU is Intel i7-980X (OC'd to 4.4GHz) and the GPU is HIS Radeon HD6990 4GB.
Testing was done with prime 95 and Skyrim game just to test GPU heat.
Before water cooling:
CPU idle: 35-40C
CPU Load: 75-80C (after only 15min of prime95)
GPU idle 40C (30% fan speed)
GPU load 65-67C (75% leaf blower speed)
After water cooling:
CPU idle: 26-31C
CPU Load: 58-65C (after 3hrs of prime95)
GPU idle 32-34C
GPU load 50-53C
Since I have no experience with water cooling, I don't really know what I should get. But I can say that I am extremely satisfied with the results so far.
What do you guys think?
