After lurking the forums in the background, searching and taking in info. i finally purchased all my parts for my computer except my video card. but im really not sure what to do about it. First here are the Specs.

Cpu- e8500
MoBo- p5q pro
Mem- G.skill 4gb DDR2 800
PS. 1000w antec Trupower Quattro PS

Now i will be mostly gaming (planning on a 24in 1900x1200. but maybe 2-3 months away) and on the web, but other tasking will be done on my laptop mostly. i want to stay away from the nvida crowd. i was thinking a single card but am open to run 2 cards.

I was looking at the 4870x2 but the heat issuse bother me so does the price but its not a huge deal to me. and then i was reading about the 4850x2 and i almost pulled the trigger but i read about the noise problems. idk if there is a solution for the heat issues and noise. also i hear about the ccc update that will "unlock" the cards.

So thats what i been leaning to and just need a final push in the right direction. i plan on buying in less then 2 weeks. thanks

4870X2 is a great card, it doesn't run that hot providing you have a decent case, and you can always crank the fan speed manually
4850X2 is also great, performing close to the 4870 for a significantly smaller price
it does run louder / cooler.
both will perform excellently at that resolution, really depends if the noise is going to bother you
