First-time WC build, question about Pumps.

Hello everyone. I am in the process of doing my first "dream build" after 13yr of system building. I've always wanted to do a WC build but am a scaredy cat :-P over the years I have done dozens of hours of research into this whole thing but never pulled the trigger.

So the time is now. I am building a socket 2011 PC and for starters I will just be WC the CPU. I have a 800D case so the 360 radiator mount in the top will be used.

My questions are about what to look for in a pump. I keep my builds a very long time so my first concern is for a pump with exceptional reliability. Next is that I would not at all be surprised to become addicted to WC and thus expand to cooling 2-3 cards in SLI/CFX. Finally, if you have a pump that can handle all of that.... would it be too much for the single CPU loop I will be starting out with? Do the pumps need/have some kind of speed control?

Noise is not really a concern, all of the builds I have ever done end up being stupid loud :)

Cannot go wrong with a MCP655 or MCP355 or MCP35x. I would go with a MCP655 for best reliability and the ability to handle your system.
 
I've found that you just have to stop 'thinking' it over and just do it. I balked for a long time before finally just doing it and it's an incredible difference over air cooling. My PC is nearly silent. And since at the moment I'm only cooling the CPU I could go silent if I wanted to.

At full power the Aquastream XT is capable of competing with the MCP655 and quieter. I did not bookmark the research I came across that noted this however it got me to get the A-XT. Nice to be able to have your PC control the pump if you want.
 
You can if you get a custom top for it. It's the same thing with the MCP355.
 
Here is a regular pump top. This is a dual pump top. Koolance is another manufacturer of custom pump tops, and their pump tops can have reservoirs added to them.
 
Thanks for all the recommendations. I decided on a 655 w/ek top, both seem pretty highly reviewed from what I found. At least this'll give me a decent start :)
 
The 655 should be fine for a CPU/RAD/2-GFX. Anything above that you may want to start thinking about adding a second pump. Same with a MCP35x.

Also the 35x is a nice little pump that has the ability to put whatever fittings you want on it with no need buy an aftermarket top, which may void the warranty. Plus the PWM is a sweet little +1 to the 35x.
