Hi there,
I recently bought an old Sony Vaio from my school, which they had taken the hard drive out of. I found a compatible 250 GB hard drive for it and upgraded the RAM to a maxed out 1 GB. When I plugged everything in, I tried turning it on and nothing happened. After some investigation, I found out that the power supply was past it's prime and in a week I had a new power supply.
I hooked the new power supply up and turned it on and I thought all was well. It showed a screen with "SONY" in big letters and a bar on the bottom that made me think something was loading or something. Well, I was disappointed to learn that nothing happens after this screen. No input in the mouse or keyboard does anything, and when leaving it on the screen nothing happens. It doesn't pass the POST, so it won't even go into the BIOs.
Is anyone familiar with a problem like this? I talked to Sony support for an hour only to find out that I know more than they do. Should I maybe replace the BIOs battery? I really have no idea.
Any help you can offer at all is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
