Hi guys,
Picked up a M4 and going to install it for the first time. Just trying to make sure I'm doing everything right.
- Disconnect every HD but my SSD
- Set Sata to ACHI mode in Bios
- Install Windows 7
- After installation and first boot, install intel chipset drivers and rapid storage tehcnology
- Run WEI
- Turn off hibernation and reduce page file size
- Reattach my HD's
My understanding is Windows 7 will set the rest (turning off defrag for the SSD, indexing, superfetch). Is this the correct way to do things? I've only recently learned about Intel RST and was wondering why it wasn't included in the drivers dvd (or maybe I missed it). Also I was always under the assumption that the Intel Chipset drivers had the SATA drivers so I was a bit confused as to why there was a whole other thing I should have installed (RST). If someone could go over that and explain it a bit it would be much appreciated! Thanks!
