First time overclocking an AMD CPU

Hi guys, I just got this new AMD Phenom II X4 955 CPU and I would like to try overclocking it. I'm very unfamilar with the BIOS settings and I need help. I only know how to set the multiplier to a higher level and I'm well aware that if you overclock a higher frequency more volts is required. So what kind of values do I need to get started?

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition at 3.2 Ghz
4GB 1333Mhz DDR3 G.Skill RAM
Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P AMD 790FX motherboard
Gigabyte 8800 GTS GeForce 640 MB video card
20x SATA LG DVD Writer
80 GB Seagate SATA hard drive
460 watt power supply
22 inch Acer LCD monitor at 1680x1050
Windows Vista x64 Ultimate Edition
Noctua NH-U12P CPU cooler

Trying to reach 4Ghz here.
 
with the 955 you are good up to 3.6-3.7ghz on the stock voltage.. after that you have to work your way up with the voltage.. take a look at various reviews.. write down the voltage numbers they used for their max overclocks.. then find the avg of what was used then try them with your setup and see how it goes.. cooling wise you are perfectly fine.. the 955 can go as high as 1.55v and stay within voltage specs.. but the phenom II is unusual from older amd processors.. they actually like cooler temps more then voltage.. where as past AMD processors were voltage hungry..

good example my 940 @ 3.5ghz with my big typhoon VX does it at 1.465v with a noctua nh-u12p it did it at 1.44v and with a TRUE it did it at 1.42v all were p95/occt stable with the same cpu and same motherboard....
