first time overclocker... i can do it!

ok here is the situation.

i have a ram 512 PC3200 DDR400 kingston.
I have an AMD 2000 XP
And i have a new mobo that is shuttle which is somewhat overclockable.

now the only thing i wanna do right now is overclock my 2000 XP little by little. how exactly do i do this? do i have to do something with the voltage or anything?

also i have a zalman cpu cooler which i think can handle the heat.

The first thing I would try to do is reduce the multiplier (if you motherboard will let you) and bump up the fsb as much as possible, ie. 200.

Try 8x200 and see what happens

also what does a multiplier do. i know what fsb is so ill try that

Multiplier x FSB = cpu speed

Hmm........I bet your multiplier is locked. Most processers these days are locked. However,IF IT IS LOCKED than you could probably unlock it. Do a GOOGLE search and find out more. If your multiplier isnt locked you could either

1)

2) Increase the multiplier little by little.

BECAREFUL if you ramming up the FSB, because if your AGP, RAM AND PCI arent locked you would overclock them also by increasing the fsb and reduce system stability!!

All of those could be done in the BIOS
Note: If you increase the CPU SPEED you might also have to increase the voltage to ensure stability!
