first time overclock needs help

i'm running my barton 2500+ at 200x11 (3200+ speeds) so i have 2194mhz out of it, right around 2ghz. pretty good i think, but my temps stay around 45-50 degrees celcius. i'm using generic thermal grease i want to trade for some decent arctic silver 5, would that help with temps? in my bios options, i can run the cpu at 2500+ speeds, 3200+ speeds, or set the fsb and multi myself. i can run either 2500 or 3200 fine, but when i try to set the speeds to 200x11.5, my system won't boot. should i not even try overclocking like this with my generic thermal grease? my pc3200 crucial ram is running at 1:1 with my cpu fsb, and the clocks are 3, 3, 3, 8. can anyone explain these to me and what numbers i should go for?
 
as5 would help some. as to why your system won't boot at 200x11.5, it is most likely multiplier locked (the cpu that is) unless it is an older 2500+. try running a 10x multiplier or something. that should tell you if it is unlocked or not. if it isn't, try running 210 fsb or so at 11x multiplier. you may need to bump the ram voltage a bit, but with appropriate voltage bumping it should be good to about 220-230 fsb as long as the chip can do it.

are you using the stock cooler? if you are you may want to consider getting a better one for longevity purposes more that anything else. i'd suggest the zalman 7000alcu or cu, or maybe one of the thermalright coolers with a decent quiet fan if noise is a concern. but that isn't that important.

you temps are fine, but before you bump the cpu voltage any you should look into better cooling.

i'm running the volcano 9+ heatsink with a generic 80mm fan that pushes some decent air. i've been looking at a better cooler for a while, maybe i'll start shopping around. thanks for the suggestions.
