I have a q6600 g0 at stock speeds and would like to get it to 3ghz while ocing my ram a little bit, I have OCZ Dual Channel Platinum(2x2gb)pc8500 ram, asus p53 hdmi mobo and a noctua nh-c12p running at full speed

Have you read any basic guides yet ? (there are heaps around).

Or just google for a specific guide for your CPU / MB maybe.

Usually its recommended to read up first, have a crack at it yourself (being mindful of overvoltage / over temps that can cuase issues) and then post a specific question / problem rather than a generic one.

okay so I want to do 9x333 for 3ghz and oc my ram alittle, at these speeds can i keep my rams voltage and timings the same? 2:3 5 5 5 18 2t pcs8500 ram, and i guess ill bump the volts for the cpu to 1.30, i see two cpu voltage settings, do i put them both to 1.30?

shouldn't you underclock your memory so that you can overclock your cpu to its max then try to clock the ram back up to normal and if that works maybe try to overclock your ram? idk, i thought that ram wasnt that overclockable

I heard all q6600 g0's can do 3ghz and thats all I want, so I dont really want/need to find my max I was thinking

If that cooler you have is decent, you should be able to get 3.4Ghz very very easily. 3.5-3.8Ghz is a little more tricky with the majority of them doing 3.6Ghz fairly easily.

Since you have PC2-8500, you will need a bus speed of 533Mhz if you want to run the RAM at the optimal ratio of 1:1... probably not going to happen on that motherboard with a Quad.

In that case, you should be able to drop the multiplier and up the bus speed to at least 460Mhz if not more - my board maxes out at 480Mhz (probably RAM limited).

But if you just want a simple 3Ghz without any of the nice speed increases from bus speed and from running that RAM at a 1:1 ratio, then just up the bus speed to 333. That CPU should be able to do that at stock voltage I would think. But then you will still only be running the RAM at DDR2-667 if you run a 1:1 ratio.. and your RAM is rated at 1066

sorry my ram is OCZ XTC 4096MB PC8000 DDR2 1000MHz (2x2048MB), not 8500

so around 3.4ghz what settings here would you change to get that and my ram as fast as it should be?

The DRAM speed setting is kinda confusing when they use a mhz speed. Setting it at 800 is probably the setting for the RAM to be at 800 with either a 266 or 333mhz bus speed.. not sure on that board.

You probably also do not want the NB and SB voltages on AUTO either. But somebody with the same board as you probably needs to reply to give you answers on that.

Also try it with letting it auto set the RAM timings.

okay but if i wanted to max my pc8000 ram and get 3.2 3.4ghz i should do a multi of 8 and like 420 fsb? yeah the dram speed shows like ddr 800, 1066 ect, so if my rams rated for 1000mhz i shouldnt go over that?

Similar procedure if you want to overclock your ram as well. Adjust settings and test, if pass: great and maybe continue o/c ing or if fail: relax memory timings and/or increase voltage (suggest not going over the manufacturers recommended max) and/or reduce speed a bit.

Its basically a lot of trial and error and getting used to what limits your particular CPU / MB / Memory has.
