water addictive:
i have no idea...question about it below.

THREE IMPORTANT questions:
1) if i want to water cool an AMD 64 3500+ and a nividia 6800 gt, is one black ice extreme radiator enough? or do i need 2?

2) clearflex or tygon tubing? does it really make much of a difference?

3) wat water additive? i am a little confused on this one. seems like some u have to mix with distilled water, while others u just pour directly in...what's up with that?

everything looks ok?

edit: 1/2 tubing or 3/8? they seem to cost the same amout of money... (i've always thought 1/2 cost more cause its thicker)...but which one?

tubing is cheaper from mcmaster-carr

tygon is more flexible than clearflex

1) You will be able to get by with a single 120mm radiator, but you will be reaching the limits and with some sizeable overclocks on the parts you may see a sharp rise in temps. A double heatercore or 2 120mm will give you more headroom.

2) If you have a well planned out system either clearflex or tygon will work just fine.

3) Most "additives" you do simply add to the water. They prevent corrosion and algae build up. Recently there have been a couple of products that are more coolant than additive. They are special mixtures that have the anti-corrosion agents and algaecides built in, so they do not need any additives. Stuff that falls under this category would be fluid XP, that mct-40 that DD sells, and that stuff that koolance now packages with their cases and kits.

EDIT : Oh yeah, I didn't look at your components, links are great, but please also tell us what they are rather then simply linking to everything. There are those of us that dont need to see the product link, just the name to know what it is, and I cba to click through 15 links just to see what you are planning for your setup.

alright, i'll edit it and post the names of the components.

2) what do u mean "well planned" system? does using tygon take in consideration the fact that i might not?

what about the tubing size? 1/2 and 3/8?

The pump you chose is 1/2", so you're going to need 1/2" tubing.
Never used clearflex or tygon, but from what i've heard tygon is better, more flexible. They both can make similarly small bends without kinking, they tygon is clearer tho. One BIX is easily enough to cool both of those, and as for water additives, I use HydreX, haven't used anything else but i've heard the follow:
Water wetter leaves a slimy film. never used it, that's just what i've heard
and as for the other "water replacements" that you fill the system with instead of distilled H20 + an additive... they're a waste of $$$ and a mess. Distiled water is like $1 for a gallon, tops, and 2 things of hydrex will do that whole gallon (I run @ half suggested concentration, and everything has been fine, so you could even do with just 1 bottle)
Last question I have is, why go Maze4 when the TDX is a better performer? Just price?

Tygon will do basically anything (within reason!) that you want it to do, so you can have a terrible setup with tons of extra bends and y-splits and whatnot and it'll happily conform

well...price is one thing.
also, i heard maze 4 has less resistance or something when compared to tdx?

i guess the deciding factor would be if i need a second radiator. if i do, i'll need to save. if not, i could afford tdx (if it performs better)

1 radiator is enough? for both vid and cpu? i guess i could always add a second radiator if i find out 1 isn't enough. but this is my first time setting it up and it seems a hassle to take apart the wc system to add another rad, so i wanna get it right the first time lolz

p.s: will panaflo fan be compatible with black ice extreme?

buy a new 2x120 rad from 2fresh in the fs thread there 40 with 2 deltas and are more efficient

Now that I see you are using the maze4, definitely go with the TDX, it is a much better performer than the Maze-4. If you are worried about the restriction of the TDX, then go with the Swiftech 6000 block. The maze4 is quite outdated.

The 2Fresh rads are great but they are double 120mm heatercores, so 2x as big. You can get single 120mm heatercores from DD, they will perform the same as the BIX for half the cost but they dont look very good. (make sure you get the shroud for them too)

i thought about getting a 2x120mm rad, but i don't think i have enough room for it to fit. even if i do, i'll probalby have to mod the top of the case, which i cannot do because i don't have tools

alright, thx for suggestion erasmus, i think that heatcore will do. do you think it will be able to fit on the top of a Lian Li 60 or Lian Li 7?

yea you should be able to fit it on the top just fine, you might not be able to fit a CD drive in the first 5 1/2 bay, but that could be your rheobus or lcd slot :)
