So, after reading about all the modding that goes on here and being wowed by some of the great work, I figured i'd try it out myself.

The subject: An old IBM PC 3xx PL that I came into for pennies.

The ridges on the case kind of look like the one on the PS2, and I figured a nice coat of black paint and a couple of replacement blue LED's might make a good first modding project. No dremel required, no early trips to the ER. :D

After taking a quick trip to the local wally, I was faced with an almost daunting amount of paint to choose from. I was looking for something that would work well on plastic (front bezel) and metal (the top shell) and had a satin type finish. Is the top metal galvanized (as the cans warned about not using the paint on galvanized metal) or not?

Additionally, any tips for a true first time modder who's never done paint work before? I'm not terribly concerned about doing a bad job right off, I have access to a couple of these for dirt cheap, and better to ruin a 5 dollar old PC than a 45 dollar case from the egg', for right now at least.
