Bought the e6300 from ebay for 160 shipped, and a dvd burner with light scribe for 20 shipped. I heard the ps is pretty crappy but i have some normal ones here if that decides to crap out.

No matter how you say it, it sucks.
 
I just built my first SFF. I went with the Qpack, and I hate it. It is way too big. The trade off is it was very easy to work in, but a micro tower would have worked better for me.

All in all it is a great case, but larger than I expected.

My experience has been very positive. Great looking case, quiet and runs like a beast. It took me about twenty minutes of hardware assembly time, just installing the video card, hard drive, cpu and ram and plugging in all the appropriate wiring. Software took a little longer but everything was recognized and up and running without a hitch in WinXP.

It comes with a 400 watt PSU which is pretty amazing for a case of this size. It allowed me not only squeeze a X1950 XT and a E6600 but even let me overclock them a bit, to 565/1710 and 2.7 ghz, respectively. No crashes, no blue screens, no errrors. Smokes through all the benchmarks I've thrown at it, 43K in 3dMark2001SE, 12K in 05, 6K in 06, and rips through 1 million digits of SuperPI in 18 seconds. Upgrading from the system I had originally (see below) it plays games like a dream come true.

Heat is a problem, though. This SFF isn't exactly designed for extreme overclocking. My regular full load temperatures are in the high 50's to 60C's and, under Orthos with both cores at 100%, it hit as high as 74C. Regardless it is proven rock-solid stable after 24 hours Orthos full-load although I don't have much hope for the longevity of some of my cooking components.

i think the shuttles are great, but way out of my price range
I have a good standard atx power supply already with 21a on 12v rail,
that should work ok with a shorter optical drive
as for size, i know what it looks like already, just the shop that sells them here sells them for 150 bucks with no power supply:(
 
I have them both and I am not a big fan of Ultra stuff but the Microfly is a better deal. And the 80mm fan in front is an added bonus.
If you remove the extra wiring that isant used on the PS you can make a pretty clean comp with ok air flow.

I mean I dont HATE it but it is bigger than I expected, even from seeing pics. It's right at the level of annoyingly big. Darn shuttles cost too much though lol
 
thats why I made my own case after using both the Qpack and Microfly. If ur happy with a mATX you should be able to make a case
10" deep 10" wide and 9"high.

or to use a ATX mobo just add 2 1/2" to the depth.

Its just 6 panels...And if you put the PS below the mobo cooling is excellent and you can use any video cards you want.
(not to mention using the PS below the mobo eliminates almost all of the other small comps problems)
 
nice, i dont have the time or desire to though. im not [H] enough :( I only get ticked with the q pack when i have to carry it somewhere to be honest
 
how is the noise level between the two cases?
How much will cooling improve with that 80 in front, because the q pack seems like a much more sturdy case than the micro fly, corrrect me if im wrong

The power supply looks ok with 18a on the 12v rail.
Ive got the blue orb for the cpu and and two expansion slot coolers to boost airflow
I will not be overclocking and using just integrated graphx, i think ill be fine
the q pack would have been 100 bucks shipped on the egg because i live in hawaii, i bought the antec with the paypal discount for 90 bucks on zipzoom. if this doesnt workout, ive got an empty shoe box in my closet :p
 
LOL, I can easily build an INSANE comp but its the hardest dam thing for me to post picts....

I use a Free copy of Photo Explosion to manage them (sizes) than download them to Photobucket. Its pretty easy to upload then with Photobucket...
 
Alright, well i just put the sys together last night, and Im having just one problem. It seems like one of the dimms is dead. Please help me troubleshoot this, Ive only got 6 days before a major surgery and after that I wont be able to work on anything for a month.
the board is listed on the first page, bought brand new from newegg, should i just ship it back for a replacement? :eek:
 
One slot works, with each individual stick, the other slot does not let the system post when there is one stick in it, or when both sticks are in.
I turned off spread spectrum, and lowered the ddr2speed to 400mhz
I also tried increasing the timings from 4-4-4-12 to 5-5-5-15
those low settings worked for the one slot, but when i used the other slot, no post.
 
Dam ur much smarter than me, lol (my next step is a hammer) :eek:

I was reading online and some peops said changing the voltages helped...

I hope someone else here is more help..
