Hey guys this is going to be my first time attempting a SFF build. One of my components in my current system went bad and I am just going to part out the rest.

Unfortunately I cant wait for the new tech to make it out because well I'm a gamer and a day trader :D patience isn't my virtue.

I have looked at many threads and pictures in the forum and SFF looks fun. My plans are to run on air cooling to help save a little money for a SSD. Also I don't know if it is the best idea to overclock just on air in such a small case.

Plan:
-sg05 / 450watt mainly because this combo seems greats for a low price.
-i5 2500k because cousin lives next to Microcenter 2400=149$ 2500k=179$
-Cooler? Something decent and reliable that fits in this case ;). Big shuriken the only option?
-Mobo suggestions. I don't really need to overclock gpu. Based on ratings it looks like the ASrock z68 is my only real option.
-GPU I could use some opinions. I have been running a 4890, I would prefer something quieter/cooler around 150$ budget (6850/6870)
-SSD 120gb-ish prefer sata3 but really just looking for a good deal to pop up. Think I can make do with this being my only drive if I don't store any videos?
-8gb 2x4 ddr3 probably gskill something with a short heat sink.

Am I going to need a short cable kit as well? Also I don't no if I have seen anyone change the front fan in the SG05 but it seems like there should be a thinner alternative out there.

I would like to start ordering today hoping to get things here before Christmas is optimistic. Anything I am missing, should be changed, or opinions are greatly appreciated.

looks good man. I'm building my first sff as well, excited about. specs in my sig

Anyone have advice on low pro air cooler or which vid cards run quieter/cooler?

Don't think a short cable set is going to help as the ST45SF isn't modular ;) Break out the pin crimper and tweezers :D

Good that saves me some money. I think i just saw a picture of the 450w that showed it with sleeves stock? That would be cool.

Any cheap coolers?

yeah, it has black sleeves stock.

as for cooler, in this form factor you need to determine which mobo you're going to use first as that drives available coolers (due to impingement of the pcie region).

If you're going to overclock SB, I'd stay away from zotac for sure -- read through the thread on the asrock z68 board as there are probably some good suggestions about coolers (and additional vrm heatsinks / etc) in there ;)

I'm getting around to ordering the giada MI-Z68 to see if it has the capability to be a 3rd option, so we'll see where that goes.

Well everything is ordered and I'M pretty sure it should be here before Christmas!

SG05 450watt
i5 2500k
ASRock Z68m-itx
XFX 6870 1GB
Mushkin 2x4GB 1600 @1.35v
WD 640gb 7200 32mb cache (from old comp) Until I can find a good SSD deal!

Time to start parting out my old comp!

Just finished ordering the last of the puzzle. Have 2 Kingston hyperx 120gb ssds on the way. Looking forward to putting it together.
