Ok, so im going to be building my first SFF computer shortly, this is what I have in mind:

CASE: ASPIRE X-QPACK-BK - Desktop Case / Micro-ATX / Black / incl. 420W PSU
MOBO: Foxconn 6150K8MA-8EKRS - S939 - NVidia 6150 GPU/PCI-E
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8 GHz Socket 939
PSU: Enermax Liberty ELT500AWT - PSU / 500W
OPTICAL: Pioneer DVR-110D Black DVD Writer DVD +/-R/RW 16x16x8x6 6x DVD+/- Dual layer IDE
VID: Sapphire ATI Radeon X800GTO 256Mb DDR 256-Bit VGA/Tv-Out/DVI PCI Express Video Card
MEM: Kingmax 1024mb pc3200 el cheepo ram
HD: 2x W.D. - 250Gb / 8Mb Cache / 7200rpm / Serial-ATA-II / 3.5" / Caviar SE

Now my question is, will the Zalman CNPS7700-CU fit on this mobo in this case or will I only be able to fit in the Zalman CNPS7000B-CU? Or is there a better fan then either that will fit?
I am also probably going to take out the stock 120mm fan and put in a Vantec Tornado in its place to keep it running cooler, I dont mind sound as my current setup sounds like a hurricane lol.
Also, the Pioneer drive is 18cm long, and the PSU is 14cm long, for a total of 32cm, in a 35 cm long case, leaving me with 3cm. should I get a shorter drive? The shortest I can seem to find is 17cm long.
Any suggestions or tips?
 
Lite-on drives are VERY short, thier newest DVD burner is about 147mm i think? Go for those ... also the 7700 will NOT fit... I'm pretty sure on that one... check the zalman site for compatibility sheets... other than that looks like a good build man ^_^ You'll be happy
 
I just checked out their site and it says that all their dvd burners are 170mm in length
 
you should have no real problems using your pioneer. also, it will help if you use only the bottom connectors of your psu and to have the drive on the top drive bay.
 
i'd suggest a LITE-on. i'm using a ZALMAN cooler on my chip and it fits..lemme find the model. i have a 7000b. it fits in my x-qpack. there is a quarter inch clearence (i think). if you look at the spec, the only difference (in height) between the 7000b and the 7700 is 5 MM. how many inches are in a MM...if a quarter of an inch is greated than 5MM than you should be good. also, that 500w PSU, overkill? the mobos don't support SLI so i think a liberty 400w should be blenty..maybe even a enermax whisper 460w as a compromise.
 
Is 500W overkill? I might eventualy get another 2x 250gig HD's and probably eventualy put in an X-fi. Id also like to eventualy fill up all the mem slots.
 
so 4 hds? meh. i still think 500w would be overkill...a good 460w would do just as good. up to you really, i'd advise you to check out a wattage calculator.
 
i input in all your information into a wattage calculator and only getting 328w. Even IF you get that 7800gt, since they are MORE power EFFICIENT than the x800, you'd still be inline with the 460w for only like $75 instead of $115. if you have the money and the room, it's your comp.
 
I dont know of any 460w PSU that are modular, I realy want a modular one so I dont have to use all the cables. There is the Neo Power 480 though, but its like 5$ less then the 500w Enermax Liberty, I figure I will just get that one anyways just incase I want to use it in a future comp or whatever, just futureproof it. I will also be overclocking :)
 
Ok, so I bought everything, just waiting on the mobo to arrive at the store, they had to order one :(, but the PSU and DVD fit :D, cant wait to put this baby together :D
 
SFF comps are gorgeous, aren't they? they look MUCH more sexy than the mid or full towers, huh?
 
Oh ya, it def looks nice, will look much nicer once I have everything installed in it :D, I think I might go buy a 2x 1gig matched pair of OCZ pc4000 or something with my next pay, depending on how high I can OC this baby.
 
Zalman 7000cu b, I woulda went for the 7700cu but I dont think it will fit :(, also im hopeing its a venice, is there any way to find out without putting it in the mobo as I dont have that part yet
