I thought it might be fitting to post to this category for my first post. I am a senior network engineer for a large oil/gas company in Houston and have just made the decision to look at Mac's. I've denied them for the last 16 years any chance of making it into my house, but after careful consideration of the latest apps and hardware Apple has put out, I made the jump and got a 13" Mac Book Pro.

I've had the MBP for about 2 weeks now and I am very impressed. I'll go ahead and make a nice mark my word on my first post and say Mac might actually get some of the market in the next 3-5 years.

That being said, I am looking at the MAC OSX Server on the Mini right now strictly for file sharing and print sharing at the house. I'm not sure of it's use in business or small business as of yet, but I'll definately get it and see what it can do.

With VMWare Fusion loaded and our company being on Exchange 07, the MBP is working pretty well with the company infrastructure.

I'm curious to see what Mac Mini Server can do around the house to get an idea of what it might do around the office.

Lastly, I swung by and took a look at the new iMac 27", I shouldn't have. I'm sure I'll own one now shortly.

Welcome to the fold. :)

Apple already has around 10% market share, but their revenue and profit numbers aren't dependent on large market share, so whether Apple has 5% or 55% market share is less important to them as having 90% market share is to Microsoft. Think of it as the difference between Toyota and Mercedes-Benz.

Mac Mini Server is basically for small business use. Whatever small-scale use you can conjure up for Snow Leopard Server, a Mac Mini Server can do that. I personally don't see too much of a use for it in the home setting. A small office setting, on the other hand...

That's been going around lately. :D
