Hello all, as the title says this is my first time purchasing a laptop. I work from home as a trader and till Aug 1st was living in a 1 bedroom apartment. I had my computer set up in 1 corner and was able to sit on the couch and not miss anything important on my charts.

I just bought my first house, and now have an office WOO HOO! anyway, I want a laptop so I can have charts running on it in kitchen or living room and see whats going on at work. I'm very interested in any thoughts or opinions you may have on this.

I built this through dell and it cost around $2700. Here is the set up...

  • Operating System Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium Edition
  • System Color Jet Black Color with Matte Finish
  • MEMORY FREE! 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
  • LCD Panel High Resolution, glossy widescreen 17.0 inch display (1920 x 1200)
  • Video Card 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 8600M GT
  • Hard Drive Dual: 320GB (2x 160) 5400RPM Hard Drive
  • Network Card Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem

again, any and all thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I think you have a typo in your price. That configuration should cost around $1,700 not $2,700.

well your correct there was a typo not quite as generous as 1700.. but the actual price is $2275 before taxes.

Thanks

For what you do, the video card and hard drive are both overkill I think. COuld have saved yourself $350 or so and gotten an extra 19" external monitor for spanning your charts.

Have a few clients of mine who do this and I just think it's a better use of the ole financials, IMO.
