first intel build...

Tomorow morning i'm about the build a P4 PC. Never done that before. the 4 computers that i have built have all been AMD.
I was just wondering if there is anything that i should be aware of ahead of time.
The system will be as follows:

Make sure to read through all the instructions in your motherboard manual before you build. Alot of what you need to know is detailed in there.
 
Make sure you boot to cmos and disable spd on the memory and set your memory timings manualy. That board does not like the spd on most memory. If you are going raid using the ich5 you will have to explore the mobo inf disc for the intel applications accelerator , open the file and look for a file called make disc.

Obviously this will have to be done a another machine. HAve a floppy ready and double click the exe. It will then create a inf disc for the raid controller to use when xp prompts you for 3rd party drivers on the XP install.


Once you have got you os installed. The first thing you want to run is the inf utility on the mother board disc . (even before you install your video drivers)

By the way install video driver last after all your os updates no matter how muh your eyes are hurting ..........LOL
