I am building an HTPC to connect to a Full HD 37" LCD TV. I am thinking of using MythTV with an appropriate linux distribution (one that includes pre-built binaries of MythTV). The HTPC will have a high def satellite pci card : DVB-S2 and a regular DVB-S card (both linux compatible).
Hardware I am thinking of using for this setup
X2 3800+ 939
2 GB DDR400 Memory
DFI Lanparty Ultra-D
256MB XFX 7600GS
It will be used for encoding/decoding HD content mostly. I will also keep some mp3's in it. Will this setup run smooth with H.264 1080p content doing what I described before. What would you suggest for taking advantage of the H.264 acceleration built into Nvidia GPU under linux (also under windows if I have to) ? I am open to all suggestions. I have been watching regular broadcast since I have bought this TV and it hasn't been a pleasant sight to the eye so far so please help me get this setup up and running.
