Hi everyone! :)

So I want to use my old Gateway FX7026 (whats left of it) as a HTPC for web browsing, and some HD movies if possible.

I don't have the 8800gt and Harddrives anymore. But I should have a MSI 9600gt (low profile?) around somewhere.

I would also need a wireless keyboard + mouse!

Any suggestions ?

thanks ;)

get a cheap ATI 5XXX or 6XXX based GPU. $35 or so.

you will get new H/A for video codecs and HD audio over HDMI.

the 9600gt is going to waste energy and is not the right card.

CPU is way over kill, but it will work, just have speedstep on.

as for wireless mouse/KB

I love my lenovo mini keyboard and trackball combo

9600gt might be fine depending on how you store your movies.

if your movies all were compressed with x264, and none of them have hd audio, i think you'll be fine with your 9600gt and onboard digital or analog audio.

a 5450 would give you an improvement in vc-1 and hd audio.

if you get an nvidia gt 430, you'll get the vc-1, hd audio, and 3d, but it is like double the cost.
