bill gates? :) but seriously you gotta respect him for what he did with windows and stuff

My post was moot, even without the memory comment, people would still be vying for him to burn at the stake =P I do respect him for managing to unify hardware standards tho (Heck back then, your printer wouldn't work for an application unless it was specifically coded for it!).

no seriously...it was probably.......either quake 2 on 64 or goldeneye...cant remember. my first pc fps was....quake 3 on dreamcast with mouse and keyboard. THOSE were the days. my first pc fps that was actually played on a pc was jedi outcast.

Wolf3D, then Doom, then didn't play any FPS for a while, then Dark Forces and Jedi Knight brought me back to them.

Wolf3d.exe
:)

I remember a few of us pooling our money together to buy Doom in High School. Then, I remember my first dial up death match... and then setting up a multinode BBS for 4 player Doom :D

The first FPS I played was "3d man" for the commodore 64. First recognizably FPS game I played was probably wolf3d.

There are definitely some young kids on here. How old would you of had to been to have Goldeneye be your first FPS?

Wolfenstein 3D / Spear of Destiny was my first.

After that Rise of the Triad, Doom 1/2/U and Duke Nukem 3D followed.

My first FPS was Ghost Recon, I was not even into video games at the time, I played the original Nintendo as a child alot, my freinds called me a Nintendo nerd, I went about 10 years after that thinking that it was just a phase then I Downloaded the demo not really knowing what it was and holy crap, I have turned into a hardcore gamer...that was 4-5 years ago and I have been a hardcore gamer ever since that eventfull day.. It is by far my favorite game.

I watched my dad play wolfenstein and doom. I didn't get hooked until duke3d for our 486.

My first was Ken's Catacombs. This was followed quickly by Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny.

Next, I moved on to a FPS RPG called Ancients II. However, I think the games that really got me "into" FPS were the Ultima Underworld games.

C'mon guys! No love for the quake!? My first and favorite game of all time Quake. Quake 2 also but nothing will ever beat that nostalgic rush from Quake. And doom shouldn't count, no mouse no fun.

Wolf3D is where I started, but I didn't turn into a complete crackhead for shooters until Golden Eye and Quake 3's multiplayer grabbed me by the short and curlies and wouldn't let go.

Wolfenstein 3d

^^ first one i ever played. My friend had it on his computer in the dorm. At the time, he was the only one to have one. I was instantly hooked...

Wow!! Wolf3d, Blake Stone and even a Corridor 7 mention. Good times.......good times.

wolf3d and then got REALLY hooked playing 4 way deathmatch on doom... BFG to the other person.. hehe

Duke Nukem 3D, Doom, and Quake at around the same time I got addicted to FPS. VERY FIRST is my still one of my favs: Duke Nukem 3D (Duke Quote: "Shit happens") on an AST 166mhz with 64megs of RAM. LOL!!!

Doom. I remember going on the AOL chat rooms and everyone was "Doom this, Doom that" I hadn't a fucking clue what they were talking about.

I remember buying the shareware *wow, been a long time since I said that* at Software Ect.. on 3 floppies and playing on my old DTX 33mhz computer. The game scared the shit outa me back then.....

My first FPS experience was Wolf3D on a friends computer in the 4th grade, it was great, didn't know there was a world of computers other than Number munchers and oregon trail on Apple IIC's in elementary school.

My all time favs are Quake 1 and 2, and Shadow Warrior. "Who want some WANG!" Oh, and who can forget Redneck Rampage series :)
