After thinking and deliberating for weeks on what to do for a new case I decided on a wavemaster to help reduce the amount of weight I carry in comparison to my antec 1000. Pretty much every review screamed quality, ease of use,, blah blah blah....

So I placed my order Sun and got my case last night and immediatly ripped into it. The shiny aluminum service and perfectly flat panels impressed me, and ohhh that shiny front benzel with the nice swinging door.

Hmm, lets see whats inside shall we? So I take off the thumbscrews and yank on the door. Hmm...not coming off. K, little bit more force. WTf...its stuck... ok more force................Damnit, its still stuck. WTF, the edges of the panel arn't cut correctly and are jammed with the cases slide out mobo panel. So I had to freaking pry them apart with a screwdrive and finally got the panel off.

Nice and roomy and shiny inside. Lets check out the slide out mobo tray I hear so much about. Undo all the screws and.....SOB, its stuck to!! Yank and pull again...damnit it wont' give! WTF, the mobo headers are hitting the other side panel??? GRRRR!!!

So I take off the thumbscrews and yank on the door. JESUS!!! ITs stuck too!! Ok, pull harder........GRRRR I'll just end up bending the damn thing. Ok, pry it loose with the screwdriver, and try again. Ok comes off now.

Try taking out the mobo try again. Gahhhh wtf is that scratching sound!!! Pull harder...damnit still won't come out!!! I have to wiggle and twist the mobo tray to come out!!!

Ok, lets put everything back in. Start slidding in the mobo tray and it gets stuck!!! Have to once again wiggle and twist it to get it to go in. But back on back side panel. Damnit, why is there a gap!!?? OH for fucks sake, now the mobo trays edge won't let it go in, who the fuck cut this case?? Twist the damn panel so it goes in and thumbscrew it in place but..... ARRRRRRGHHH, NOW THE THUMBSCREWS DONT" ALIGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK THIS!!!!

I gave up after that point. I am utterly dissapointed with coolermasters lack of quailty when so many people preach about it being the best. Well I sure as hell got the freaking lemon or whatever from that factory. Its not even remotely worth the money I spent on it. What a complete waste of time and money.

The case is going back UPS to newegg today and I will stick with my tried and tested Antec cases like I always have. They are heavy but damnit at least they have quality standards.

Well, in my eyes Coolermaster are ridiculously overpriced. Also I hate the design of the wavemaster for the restriction of airflow to the front fan. That is just a basic design flaw, but so obvious that you have to wonder if they had a monkey designing it.

I love the way the Coolermasters look, and I heard some people had good luck with them, but a friend of mine ordered one and had the exact same experience as you, couldn't even get into the thing without a ton of work. Too bad because they are damn spiffy looking.

I can't complain about mine. No problems at all, everything fits together prefectly.

I have the Black ATC-710.

This is why I never ever have recommended one. Hope youre able to finish making the case (filing the edges so stuff fits) since they obviously had more important things to do.

smooth installation with the wavemaster i bought. i wouldnt be happy either with trouble like that. tough luck. ill bet if you get another you wont have any problems.

Oh, there won't be another, trust me. I"ll stick with "Blue Fantasy"
and just keep working out to deal with the weight.

My brother got a Cooler Master Wavemaster and the installation went perfectly. In terms of build quality I thought it was second only to the A-Tech Heatsink Case, and I've worked with Lian Lis in the past which are okay too.

my PAC T01 was and still is flawless.. Everything fits together airtight..

My only complaint with coolermaster is I have a ATC-600 as my htpc case, I recently purchased a coolermaster aluminum bezel for the front of my dvdrw, and the 5 1/4 bay screw holes don't have enough room to push the dvdrom back so the bezel is flush it the case..

wtf,, its all coolermaster products.. so i had to take a dremel to it, which worked but isnt pretty... good thing its on the inside.

I have a wavemaster and i love it. Sounds like a manufactuing defect, no matter what, its gonna happen to some people. My mobo tray was stuck to when I first got it, until i realized how to pull it out correctly, you yank it out, you must lift upward and slowly slide it. I am fine with that, as it is just a simple rail, what else would u expect? I would send it back and get another

I've owned 10 or so coolermasters and never had a single quality control problem. I've heard very few complaints so i think you were very unlucky with yours.

I have a coolermaster atc-201b-bxt and it is near perfect. everything is great. just that if i wanted to put on a hard drive cooler, i would not be able to. meh who uses those anyways.

i love my case and i recommend it to all my friends. im also purchasing one for my second pc.

I was in Compussr today just checking out deals ( Btw they have a 160GB WDC for 59.99 after 2 mail in's and 1 instint rebates )

I saw that Compaq makes a Gaming rig which has that Coolmaster case, with the little wave shaped front, cant remeber the exact name. It had Compaq's name on the case though. Did they by the rights to that or something?

yep, i have the silver version of that case, and it kicks some major ass. i bought aluminum side panels for mine which made it ALOT lighter, and now it is everything i need. i also modded it so that the motherboard tray can come out with just 4 screws for easy mobo swapping. i love my cooler master and i will never go for anything else.

you should've tried a Lian-Li... one of the best quality cases out there, and MUCH cheaper than coolermaster... I'll take one anyday over an Antec (and I've built quite a few off the 1080 AMG series)

Personally I don't like the Wavemaster much. I liked some of the older Coolermaster cases but I really like the basic look of the Lian LI cases.

the lian-li 6070 is a nice alternative if you want a front door.. granted it's not all wavy, but it's still a great looking case..

I bought a Coolermaster uATX case from Directron.com. The blasted thing had to have been assembled with a pneumatic Screwdriver as I could not undo a SINGLE screw in the case with a manual screwdriver. There was one especially annoying screw I soaked with Knock-r-loose overnight and the SOB still wouldn't budge. Ended up cutting the bastard with my Dremel Tool.

Lian-Li > Coolermaster in terms of fit and finish. I mean as expensive as a damn Coolermaster is you'd think they have better quality control.

I recently got a praetorian. Very nice case, but the tap for a couple of the mobo mounts on the slide out tray 'just' barely touched the rear frame when pulling it out and you have to wiggle it a bit to remove... beyond that fit and finish is awesome. It's a bit smaller than I would have liked front to back, but I think it's going to turn out amazing none the less.

Sounds like you got a dud, and I have been hearing mixed feelings alot on the wavemaster... great points for exterior styling and big hits on the cooling and panels.

My Coolermaster Wavemaster case is perfect. I went Coolermaster because of the excellent build quality on my brother's ATC-111 (another great looking case).

Most cases from other vendors seem tacky and cheap. Coolermasters look and feel like quality products. Absolutely no twist in the frame, and each of the components feels solid. You'd expect the motherboard tray to feel flimsy, but it doesn't at all.

I'd call this stituation an isolated incident as I just finished reviewing the Wavemaster at MTB and the case was perfect. I've had a chance to play with a few of the Cooler Master models and have always been impressed. The Wave Master is priced slightly lower than previous models but still has the same type of quality design and function. I wouldn't give up on the case until you get your model replaced.

I had a coolermaster with the Azure colored glass door on the front, and I must put in my vote for them. That case had the best build quality that have ever had in one of my cases (haven't managed to try a Lian-Li yet)

They honestly don't seem to worry a ton about the cooling (odd since their name is coolermaster).... the case I had did not have a spot for a front fan (although I never had any temperature problems)

Maybe UPS played a little soccer with your case on the way...

-Hex..

I find it funny that whenever someone says this case is "quality," all they are basing it on is the thickness of the aluminum used.

I'd hate to be the poor guy to purchase your case if it hit's NewEgg's refurbished section...after all the bending you claim to have done to it. Luckily i'm not a coolermaster fan either. ;)

Are you going to stick with your Antec? You should take a look at the Lain-Li cases, they just scream "Mod me!"

Had one "Cold Fusion" To small for my tastes but shit loads better quality then coolermaster, thats for sure.

I think I will stick with my Silver Aluminum Chieftec.:D

Boy, if Antec made aluminum cases, I would be one happy camper but *sigh....................*

My Antec had intakes "sort of like" that, the were outies not innies. But I hacked them off and put some mesh in there, I really like it.

wow, sounds like your shipping company did a number on that case, sorry to hear you say that an "antec" is better than a coolermaster case...

I've never heard of the problems you've just had, and I have built quite a few computers with a variaty of coolermaster cases...

Just out of curiousity Icewindius, where do you live?

A theory, and this might be out there. But, if you are any where north of say South Carolina right now, it's really freakin cold. Is it possible that the aluminium could have warped about in shipping? You did state you immediatly ripped it open and had at it.

I know even when it's not so cold out a lot of packages I get are pretty cool to the touch. I can only imagine what aluminum would be like outside in the winter.

It was sitting in the house for a couple of hours before I got home so it wasn't cold even though it gets freezing up here in Montana during winters. Either way, it wouldn't have made a difference. The edges were poorly cut and ground away resulting in one of the shoddiest cases i've seen.

Yes, my Antec has better build quality then that coolermaster. Just wasn't meant to be then.

Blech...I don't much care the for the ANTEC/CHEIFTEC BOXES. Had one of those myself, and while the only thing I liked at the time was the 6 hard drive bays, plus the four 5.25 it tons of room. But I never had a case that collected dust inside so bad. Never again. Figuring the case had to go, I started looking around last year, every case seemed to be knockoff of this with just an different front.

So I sprung for the Coolermaster Pac T01 (don't think this was the name when I bought, but that is what is now), anyways, what people don't see is the nice straight airflow into the front of the case. This is a rarity with some of whacky front bezels. Then try to find a case that has good intakes with the mesh front which this has and is good at collecting larger pieces of dust/hair/lingt. Behind the mesh is the foam filter (which is worthless in my opinion), and then there is still enough room to mount two super fine wire mesh grills on the front of my panaflos. Sure I cut down on my intake capacity but its not noticable. The only shit inside my case is the super fine dust (think powder), which blows out easily once a year.

On another note, if you got so much stuff in your case (i.e 2 many freaking drives like me)...I am a recent convert of the "less is more" theory. I shed the burden of my double raid array (4 drives) and thumb'ed my nose at having "too much" space.

Just bought a raptor 74gb, and 120gb external firewire. And all is glorious. The ratpr is so fine, I highly suggest picking one up if you have the means.

A new motherboard with some integrated stuff, and the shedding of 2 pci boards made my case a lot less hostile. While retaining the full functionality (alought I lost 2 USB two slots)
