Ok, so as the title would lead you to believe, this is indeed, my first computer build. I'm pretty comfortable working around with computers and know a fair amount about them. I already have one Dell Dimension 8400 which was customized, but of course, not built by me and I constantly find myself wishing I had gone ahead and built it myself, so here's my chance to make up for that. I'll be listing the selected parts below and would appreciate if you guys could tell me what parts I'm missing (especially the smaller things, like cables), what to change, and if there are compatability issues. So here it goes:

1x-$148.00 ASUS P5GDC Deluxe Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 915P ATX Intel Motherboard

1x-$69.00 ASPIRE X-CRUISE -BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

1x-$75.00 Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 ATX12V 500W Power Supply

TOTAL:
-----------
$1,887.77

I have some things not mentioned above, like PS/2 Mouse Keyboard combo, 7.1 Speakers, Thermal Grease, uhh... and a third 80mm fan with a new fan grill for the window of the case.

id lose the sound card..

get a good name brand power supply (enermax, or antec usually the best priced)

also where is your mother board?

i pmd you..

Oh damn, I must've forgot to copy it in. Sorry about that. Also, why lose the sound card. I have a similar one in my current machine and it's great.

well, spare anything you can from the system you have (unless you need 2 computers)

there is probably a good enough sound card on the mobo you picked out, well i dont think youll see 100$ worth of difference, but its your call..

dont forget a good power supply.. a 400watt should work (name brand so it has less of a chance to put the 1k+ investment down the drain)

Looks great, you dont need an AMD processor to play games. The intel will do great and run them better than your old comp, have fun building!
