Hiya, so I just built my first PC! I'm really, really excited but I do have a question.

When I first plugged everything in to turn it on in my excitement I completely forgot to plug in the 24 pin motherboard plug ( I know how did I miss that giant thing =.= ). I got really scared as to why it wouldn't turn on and tried turning it on a few times until I realized it wasn't plugged in and why absolutely nothing was happening.

So my question is can that in anyway damage the computer? Everything seems to be working fine but is there some sort of side effect to doing that? Nothing happened when I pressed the button so I don't know if any power went to the other components?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I tried to find the answer online but couldn't find anything. It was a dumb mistake so hoping I didn't leave any sort of damage to any of the parts.
 
Basically... no.

The wire that turns on the PSU is in the 24-pin connector. If that's not plugged in the computer is off unless you shove a paperclip or something into the right pins and power it up.

It's at least theoretically possible to do some damage if you plugged in the 24-pin connector while connected to wall power since there's a +5V standby line, but as long as everything seems to be working fine I woulnd't worry about it even if you did that.

I am a little confused though. While the main power connector is among the least likely to cause damage of the things you could forget, I just can't imaging forgetting to plug in the main power connector.
 
That's good to know thanks! Learned something new to.

And yeah I know don't ask =.= lol I can't believe I had forgotten too. It's my first computer build and my excitement got the better of me haha.
