Been waiting quite some time for the intel price cuts and now that they are getting close, I figure it's time to start locking down my system components. I plan on using this computer for moderate gaming and moderate video encoding as well as all the normal stuff people do. I'd like to keep my total budget in the $1600 USD range. I have never overclocked before but I think eventually I would like to try to get 3ghz out of the q6600. I will be reusing the mouse, keyboard, and monitor from my previous PC. I also already have a license for vista business x64 so I will not need to worry about budgeting for that.

Here's what I have so far:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (~$270)

CPU Cooler: Tuniq Tower 120 ($60) -- I believe this will fit in my case?

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R ($130)

RAM: 2x G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) ($260) --I'm open to suggestions on the RAM. I've heard these g.skills were good which is why I've included them for now.

GPU: EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB ($390)

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3500630AS 500GB 7200 RPM ($120)

PSU: SeaSonic S12 Energy Plus SS-650HT ($160)

DVD drive: Samsung DVD burner SATA with lightscribe ($39)

Case: LIAN LI PC-7B plus II ($90)

Total: ~$1519

Are there any glaring compatibility issues with these components? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Looks good! Only thing, if this is a gaming rig, I'd go only 2 gig ram and a GTX instead of a GTS. Also, I'd go for a sound card, at least an audigy 2 as well... Other than that everything looks fine.

EDIT: What kind of monitor are you keeping for this rig?

Really don't need a soundcard, given that Vista kills EAX support. There's still OpenAL, sure, but then there are less expensive options.

Should be able to get RAM in the $90 range for 2GB.

If you stay with 4GB you'll need to run a 64bit OS to make use of it.

The GTX is a good plan, but probably outside of budget.

It's a Viewsonic 22'' widescreen LCD running a resolution of 1680 x 1050. I don't have the exact model number handy at the moment, but there's the important stuff.

If you are wanting to keep this computer for awhile and use it for moderate gaming..its a little too early to tell, but the gts might not cut it here in about a year or so. Hell, the gtx might not either, but thats moot. You need a vid card with at least 512 ram for that to run at native res. Yes, you can get better memory for cheaper, but 4gb might be overkill...just depends on exactly what you are using it for.
