This is my first custom computer build ever. I plan on trying to over-clock to 3.8GHz which seems to be easily attainable. Does it look like I am missing out on anything? I will be using a TC-L37S1 as a monitor. Thanks again for looking and commenting. I am still having trouble with the PSU. I don't really need a modular PSU and added the one I currently have for the fact that it is a Gold rated and highly recommended psu

Stick with the 5870, 4870's are now outdated tech. It looks good but without knowing what you are using it for I can say that 12gb of ram is overkill unless you are doing some serious VM'ing. That X750 is decent but not the greatest buy for the price.

I probably won't do any VM'ing so maybe I could drop that other 6GB of ram. Initially I was going to go with CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-950TX but I was assured by many that the X750 would be more then enough power for me and it is one of the best psus out. I am back and forth on this power supply. The modular aspect isn't very alluring to me as this case's wire management is very good.

Do you have another PSU suggestion?

Yes even a quality 650w psu would power an i7 + 5870 as long as you are not doing heavy overclocking. And yes, with the 800D it wouldn't be all that worth it to get the modular psu because of its excellent cable management (plus its freaking HUGE... thats what she said :p sorry had to).

Save some cash and go with the Corsair 750TX which currently has a 10% off with free shipping as well.

Dropping the ram and the psu could save you some money to invest in something like peripherals (monitors, mice, nice keyboard, speakers, etc). Plus you could always save that money for later when you will want to crossfire your 5870 (and you will, power is addicting!)
 
I'm an nvidia fanboy so personally I would switch the gfx card to a 480 (evga is a good company for example) but other then that it looks like your set to go :)

I am not super familliar with what 'heavy' oc'ing is. I have read the 'sweet spot' to be 3.8GHz and plan on trying to attain that. This PSU is troubling me. I can't decide on what I really need/want. I made a thread int he PSU section and was convinced that the X750 would be an awesome option for me.
 
Well you didn't mention if you are oc'ing or not so it was a shot in the dark. If you are then you can just stick with the x750, its a good psu, just a tad more than other similar quality 750w psu's.

Thank you I should've mentioned it in the OP I will edit it. At first I was concerned with having a modular psu but with the case I am getting I don't think that cable management will be a problem whatsoever.

The Corsair HX750W is a nice unit and modular, I'm a freak in term of cable management and really hate to mange the cables that I don't need so modular on the way. Plus the HX line is better than the TX for not just the longer warranty but I believe it's built on a better, newer platform than the TX.
 
I will stick with the x750 seasonic.

I am thinking I'll want to replace the stock fans. I have heard yateloon and antec make the best fans. Opinions?
