i dont know the first thing about overclocking.

i have a pretty good cooling system. for now its at 47 C at load on my regular XP 2000+

now i wanted to change the timmings.

i can do it with my mobo.

whats the smallest increase i can increase so i can go little by little?

and what timming settings do u recommend? thanks!
 
you didn't really give any info on your set up, so it's hard to help.. plus you gotta take things one at a time.. OC the CPU first,then worry about RAM timings.
 
that's a fairly large jump.... you're ram (if it's the same as in your profile) will handle it, but you'll need to increase the vcore a bt, mopst liley, and that will drive temps up...

My brother has a 2000+ in an A7V8X-X w/ Kingston pc2700 valueram and it does 155 fsb easy. At stock vcore as well. He didn't leave it at that, he's still running stock cooling.
 
I had a pos 2000+ that wouldnt oc over 3mhz FSB. Once more... "baby steps".
 
If you've got a lot of time to mess with it, go as slow as possible and do as many benchmarks as you can, it will help in finding an optimal overclock with speed balanced with stability.
 
Bump your FSB 5-10 MHz and then run Prime95 for an hour or so. If its stable and not overheating then try another 3-5MHz. Rinse and repeat. When you get unstable add some voltage and try again. When heat or instability becomes a wall start backing the FSB down 1 MHz at a time until you hit that sweet spot. Good luck.
