I'm trying to make a bezel for my case, and I am using clay as the base of it (forming a mold from that, and going from there)

However, here's the dilema...

My mom has clay, and a kiln...I formed the clay to the shape I want, but I don't know how long to fire it for. My mom is out of town, and out of reach.

If anyone knows how long to fire clay for...please let me know, as Google and Jeeves were both useless in my search.

When I took sculpting in school we'd fire it overnight.

If I were I'd seriously wait for your mom to get home so she can help you out. You honestly don't want to be responsible for burning the house down.
 
First off you have to let the clay dry or the steam from the water in it will make bad things happen
 
Bad things = the first thing any ceramics student learns firsthand, a blown up piece.

I would really wait for someone experienced to help out, there IS a risk of burning things down, as well as the probable chance of ruining whatever you make.

You need to put it in a safe, not very well-ventillated place (it should dry off slowly, or it will crack), and wait at least several days before you do any kind of firing. The general rule of thumb we learned is that it isn't ready for the kiln while it still feels cool to the touch (water evaporating from it). [this happens a while after it looks dry]

And with a long, thin piece like a bezel, you run additional risks of it cracking if you didn't construct it well.
 
You do know that the clay will shrink right??

If it fits now, it won't when its dry
 
wait for your mom. We don't know what clay you used. Most kiln burns are staged so that it doesn't raise the temps too fast. Depending on the clay you'll need to fire at differing temps, reffered to as cones.

good luck, I've always wanted to try making parts of cases out of clay just for something different.
