Firewire/firebox help

This is my latest post in case anyone wants to skip the beginning:

Well this is depressing :(

I bought the card. Installed it into a PCI-E slot. did the drivers and everything. But after I plugged my firebox in, the computer didn't recognize it. There was no 'sound effect' or any recognition pop up. The weird thing is that the front of my case has a firewire input and the computer detects that (and gives me the 'this usb port not recognized' error) but I'm assuming that is irrelevant b/c I'm assuming the firewire card only adds firewire capabilities to, well, the card output (in the back). Besides, I used to get the same error even before my firewire card was installed, so it probably means nothing , maybe the computer is just confused =/

I took some pictures showing my card installed on my mobo, and the way it looks from the back of the computer with my firebox firewire cable plugged in. I have no idea what's going on, help would be super greatly appreciated, thanks hardforum

Did you plug in the firewire front panel cable to the pci-e card you bought?

From the sound of things, you have the front panel firewire plugged into a motherboard usb header

Yeah, for sure the firewire front port isn't connected to the mobo 'effectively'. I think it's because my motherboard doesn't support firewire. That's why I bought the internal firewire card. So far I've been trying to connect directly into the card's firewire port, with no response.

My friend came over the other day and thankfully found the problem. Thanks for the help anyways Hardforum

In case anyone was curious about the fix:

The drivers were incorrectly setup. It defaulted into using a driver that was neither the TI driver or the Legacy driver, both of which would've worked. Once that was changed the box was recognized; from that point is was just installing the Firebox drivers. :)
