Firewire drive won't show in My Computer

I have a 60GB Smartdisk Firelite external firewire hard drive. My problem is that while it shows up fine and reports that it's working properly in device manager, it is no where to be found in my computer, i'd like to use this for some quick backup. I read a bit about the drive on their website and it said for OS's 2000 and newer there should be no drivers needed. I happen to be using Win2k3 server if that helps anything. Thanks in advance

go into the disk manager and make sure it's partitioned and formatted.
