firewire 800

Quick question. Do any of the mac laptops have firewire800? I think it would be slick as hell to be have a 12" powerbook and hook it to one of the external raid array's I've seen sitting around the internet....

Powerbooks 15" and up have Firewire 800...the 12" model does not...only Firewire 400

yeah the 15"'s definately got them and theres a marked difference between 400, like you really notice when moving stuff or caching images, etc.

Or the rectangle shape? Are the G5 Towers the same way, or just the Powerbooks have FW800?

FW800 uses a different plug than 400, their square, G5 towers support 800 also.

You can daisy chain FW up to 63 devices.

that and you can get a FW800 hub if you don't want to daisy chain them

Thanks all for the info. that kinda sucks that i'd hafta go for the 15" ... its bigger than I want for my next laptop. I've already got a behemoth of a laptop in my i9300.

the 15 really doesn't weigh that much more (1 lb.) than the 12, especially considering the difference in components, and the biggest dimensional difference is the width

The 15" I think is the perfect size, its average sized compared to PCs. Mine is about an inch bigger than my last laptop, but thats only because Apples are widescreen. I've used a 12" and its just too freakin small/cramped, the 17" is a behemoth.
