Firewire 400/800 vs Express Cards?

I am getting an audio interface to record music with and I have tons of options. Most of them are using Firewire or USB these days, but I have a MacBook Pro and there is a company with a setup that works with the Mac's Expresscard slot..

Is there any advantage to speed/latency using the Expresscard slot over a Firewire port?

Expresscard has a theoretical maximum speed of 2.5Gbps, so it could be faster than Firewire. In terms of real-world performance on the other hand, I couldn't say.

Depends on the setup of ExpressCard - some are USB-based, some are PCIe-based. I'd expect Macs to be PCIe-based, but no guarantees.
