Heres my problem.

I have Norton Personal Firewall 03' on this comp, and when i try to access my file server it won't let me, then when i disable the firewall it lets me...is there a Better firewall i can get or can i configure this one so i can still have my security on High and still be able to access my file server ?

The best firewalls are hardware based. If you have to stick with software based, Norton's is complete crap, Zone Alarm is a better choice.

I also recommend Zone Alarm if you must use a software firewall.

Hardware Firewalls are soooooo much better. Less work for your system also.

I've got a Hardware firewall w/my Microsoft Router, but i don't wanna mess w/it cause last time i did i couldn't connect to some things.

its a Microsoft MN-100 Wired Base Station 4 Port Router, it does what i need it to do, but if i can use the firewall on there more effectively, well then heck yeah i'll use it

I know we all hate to, but sometimes it helps to RTFM. :D

i read it, didn't help me much.

Can i really trust a Microsoft Router Firewall

there are never updates for it, and since i got it there was 1 firmware update, and its been well over a year.

It's not an MS router, it's re-branded. Plus, NAT routing and SPI are controlled by standards used throughout the industry. There will be very little difference from one manufacturer to the next as far as consumer products are concerned.

Though IT IS true that Microsoft has since stopped production of their wireless and networking equipment, so dont' expect support or firmware updates anymore.
