Firefox plugin issues

After recently upgrading to FF1.5, I wasn't able to view Flash, Windows Media, or any other type of embedded content. I tried rolling back to 1.0.7, manually deleting and reinstalling the plugins, and completely removing and re-installing FF, but nothing has worked. Any ideas?

BTW, everything works fine in IE, and also works when I open links in IE tabs using an extension.

likely a conflict with something else
Id rip it all out and scrub the registry again

I can say Im running 1.5 without any plugin issues
of course this box doesnt have IE at all as I removed it with XPLite
