firefox going all screwy on me

it worked fine yesterday, but just now when i tried to start ff, it popped up this thing and asked me for the profile. if i chose the default one, it said that it was already in use. so i created a new one, and it worked. how is it already in use if i don't even have ff open?

btw i prime'd for 14ish hours since the last time i used ff

Pull up Task Manager and check to see if process firefox.exe didn't completely shutdown.from the last time you used it.
