Firefox version 3.6.4 is now available for download. One of the new features in version 3.6.4 is “crash protection.” You can download the update manually by clicking the link above or simply use the built in “Check for Updates” tool.

Crash protection is the name of the Firefox capability based on Gecko's out of process plugins technology. It first shipped in Firefox 3.6.4 for Windows and Linux only, running Adobe Flash, Apple QuickTime and Microsoft Silverlight in a separate process called plugin-container.

I've been running 3.6.4 build 7 and no updates available; it seems this build became kosher for public consumption. :)

I upgraded from 3.6.4build7 today and then it said Flash was not installed. The alt key wouldn't make the file menu appear, somehow the scrollbar was on the left side of the window, and the scroll wheel didn't work in the browser. Making a new Firefox profile didn't fix the problems. Uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox and Flash make it all work again.

Sounds like a wacky situation you created there by "upgrading" an existing install to the same build. If it isn't broken, dont fix it! ;)

The new version of Firefox is a lot more responsive and definitely snappier.

+1

When 3.6 first came out, it didn't work well w/ DPI scaling in Windows 7. I need this for the HTPC. Does anyone know if it's fixed?

Tried it...Back to IE and all the grief I'll get for saying so.
