I put together a PC for my grandma, originally I had it in an old Ultra wizard or something like that, it was an ultra forget if the model name is right. Anyway I decided to splurge and get her a mATX case since the MB was only mATX anyway and it would save some space in her office. I ended up getting the SilverStone Tek PS07B from amazon for $68.99 after rebate. I had trouble taking the plunge since she won't even notice the difference between it and any other mATX case but I'm really glad I did it for her. The case is amazingly silent with the ASUS F1A75-M PRO's Q-Fan setting (think that's what it's called?) set to silent. I set both the case fans (chassis 1&2) and the CPU to silent and it's so nice. Here are the system specs
CPU: A8-3850
MB: ASUS F1A75-M PRO
(Bought combo for $140 AR)
ZALMAN CNPS5X Performa 92mm CPU cooler
($15 AR)
Plextor M3 128GB SSD
(paid $170 for combo of SSD, Photoshop, and SD card, sold SD/Photoshop on ebay for $70+ combined-$30 rebate=$70ish)
8GB (2x4GB) G.SKILL DDR3 1866
($50)
SilverStone PS07B
($69 AR)
Antec NeoEco 620W (Seasonic made)
($35 AR)
Samsung Blu Ray drive
($26 (open box))
Total comes to about $400 and I had a w7 home premium disk laying around (Actually a w7 family pack that I only used 2 of the 3 uses on with no need for the 3rd til now) and I had a copy of malwarebytes I got as a combo in another deal where it was essentially free. In the end it comes to a little over $400 invested I'd guess but damn I love the case. The inside looks so good, cable management is insanely easy, behind the motherboard tray there are spots just for storing unused cables. I removed the 3.5" tray since it isn't needed for her PC, she was talking about needing to get a new PC since hers is like 10 years old (literally) and she uses it daily (I'd go crazy.) I'll be giving her this over the 4th of July, my guess is she'll be shocked since she has never owned a PC as quick as this one is. She talks about turning the computer on and waiting a few minutes before going back in the room now where this one is at desktop in under 15 seconds. I know the PC specs aren't anything special and I coulda gone cheaper since she doesn't need the 3850 or 8GB ram, PS is way overkill too but was cheaper than the alternatives and the case was spendy especially for such a basic PC but the cable management is so nice and with the fan filters even she will be able to clean it once in a while. With nothing in the case obstructing the CPU cooler (only thing she'll need to blow out once in a while) an air can will be easy for cleaning that. Anyway, sorry for the run-on/unnecessary info
. It does look kinda odd since the case requires you to install the motherboard upside down, plus it is on the opposite side of the case than the typical PC case. here's the pics
