Fine Thread screw size?

I thought I'd seen it all, and then this hit me --

I got a couple of the newish 800Mhz FSB Xeon's (3.2's) for a server I'm putting together. The retail boxed heatsink has screws which are course thread, and a larger diameter from a normal course thread screw. The case I have for this has built-in standoffs for the Xeon heatsink, but they're fine threaded, like the old 533/400Mhz FSB Xeon retail HSF. I want to get some fine thread screws to put in place of the big course ones in the new HSF. The fine thread I need is the same size as used in optical and floppy drives, but I need them to be about 7/8" long (or longer and I can cut them down). What size screw and what thread count/pitch/whatever do I need to look for?
 
dont have a clue, but consider taking a sample to your local lowes, and try to match the threading. heck, even tote a cdrom around testing it out. radioshack might have a few of em...maybe
 
#6-32 or #8-32. Your local hardware store will have a thread size tool. Probably even free to use bolted onto the shelf by the screws. These bolts are a common size found in hardware stores.
 
Well, I found out what they are -- M3 .50 thread pitch. I thought they might be #4-48's, but the only thing Lowe's had close to the right size was #4-40's and they were much too course. I found the M3's at Ace Hardware.
