How do you find out what TV's are the best buy, quality, price etc?

Trying to help Dad, but I don't really watch TV or anything... so don't really follow the developmets or know where the resources are. This forum isn't exactly right either since it's PC monitors =/

We're thinking LED backlit, 55-60", 120+hz... Seen some Samsungs that look nice, but it kind of ends there.

Store/customer reviews are pretty untrustworthy... Any advice on "good" review sources, technology comparisons, etc?

I would say to make sure that you actually see it running before purchasing it.

Also, anything with a combination of 120 HZ, more than 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 1080p, a lot of inputs is good.

I am trying to help my dad do the same thing. I think we are going to go with the Samsung 55" LED HDTV UN55B8500
