I really don't like AS5 and would prefer to use something else that applies far easier and works better like AC MX-2 or Tuniq TX-2, etc. AS5 is also conductive and even though enthusiasts are generally attentive, I've had problems with it in the past. It's just unfortunate that I can't find anything superior to AS products locally and forced to mail order the better compounds.Yeah, the H50 is fine but still running warmer than it did when I first installed it with the factory TIM. Temps bounce around from 68C to 76C when folding bigadv. I'd prefer it to stay under 70C but it's fine really. I may have applied the AS5 a little too thick.
Congrats on your first -bigadv WU! Hopefully we can get a few more people in the 100k+PPD club to fight EVGA. They have their top 8 members well over 100k and increasing...Welp, this first WU just uploaded successfully! Time to now work on that special project some of you have been asking about.![]()
I think they have 6 over 200k and 8 over 100k from last I saw, so it doesn't look good for us. It's fantastic for the project, though.Don't they have like 5 over 200k?
That would be awesome. I'm hoping by spring time we could have another couple of members over 100k.Once I can get my bonus I'll build another rig that should put me real close to 100-105
Well, it's not my first bigadv.. it's just my first one on this new motherboard and my first one at 4GHz. My previous bigadv box died a couple days ago and I had to buy a new motherboard, very pleased with this new Gigabyte board.Congrats on your first -bigadv WU!
Whatever it is, it is now in Kendrak's hands for testing on Nexus.*Crosses fingers for linux distro*

Not to mention AS5 stains/discolors the crap out of anything it touches. Every other paste I've used cleans off clean and leaves no discoloration; seems like any time I use AS5 and wipe it off, there's still a slight dull gray color left behind.
My TS arrived today from FrozenCPU.com and it still had pushpins. I'm glad I ordered the bolt-through kit with it.Interestingly enough though I've seen reviews of the TS that look like now it does come with a bolt-through kit instead of pushpins, so I'm hoping it does...
I must say that I also am really enjoying the GA-X58A-UD3R MB. Had mine for about a week or so, with a Noctua NH-D14, 6 gigs of OCZ Gold, and Nxzt Tempest EVO. I'm new to i7 OC'ing and still fine tuning to get it stable @ 4.0 Ghz. (Damn thing is IBT stable but not bigadv stable @ 4.0 Ghz; YET!). Still - GREAT MB for the price!! I'm at about 32:30'ish in my frame time, but I'm also folding with 2 GTX 260-216's.

There will definitely be some beta testing. Kendrak is more or less alpha testing this just to make sure my instructions can be followed and the process actually works. There is nothing really complicated with this install, it just needs to be followed carefully and to the letter. If the idea is to make this as turn-key as possible before you spend hours troubleshooting various problems, beta might be a good idea.

Been working most the weekend trying to get I7-920 stable at 4Ghz. Before this max speed about 3.9Ghz.
Well anyways lost one WU about 10% thru before I found good stable configuration.
So far stable for about 12 hours now @ 4.01Ghz 1.200V. Temps seems pretty good, mid 70C,which
I am comfortable with and tpf is sub 30 minutes.
TPF times 29:55, which are bit longer than tobit's boxen at about same cpu speed.
Box running OpenSUSE 11.2 64 Bit 6GB at 1533Mhz
4 GHz @ 1.2 Vcore!? Wow and holy shit!! I have to ask - what MB and cooler are you using? And what are your other voltages / seetings?
Axdrenalin - Folding bigadv I am generally in the high 70's - 80, and over the last 24 hours the hottest core peaked at 83. This is with CPU vcore @ 1.36 and QPI/VTT @ 1.475. I have a pretty good feeling going above 4GHz is going to take a lot more voltage, and won't be worth it. I'm happy at 4GHz though.

Guys - Thanks for the concern, but based on this http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=632366 I'm not that worried as my temps are still decent. Plus, I buy CPU's with the expectation that I'll kill itBut, it's never happened yet!! I have an old Athlon XP that I still run at 2.1 volts (to get 2.166 GHz) with the stock HS.
