Ok, so I've finally decided to use my pc to fold while i'm not using it, I've messed around with folding before mut nothing major. The last couple days i've been screwing around, reading forums and trying to get all 3 of my GPU's folding. I have a GTX285, and 2x9800gt on a Nvida Classified board.

I've read all the "guids" and i cant seem to get the 2 9800gt's to engage. I have 3 folders set up with the GPU2 client I have tried connecting my monitor To both Video cards and extending the desktop to it. When I start running the second client I see that my first one and 9800 doesn't heat up so its not actualy folding on it. Under advanced settings in the gpu client I only change the "computer number"

I'm sure i'm just missing something but I cant figure out what it is.

Running Vista 64bit.

Did you add the -gpu 0 and -gpu 1 flags to the first and second GPU client? This will force each client to use different cards so both can fold independently.

Edit: just noticed you have three cards. You will need to add the -gpu 0 and -gpu 1 and -gpu 2 flags since you have three clients on one machine.

Ok i did this but now i get a loop saying something about unstable machine and then it got EUE limit exceeded .....
I think am only seeing this on the 2 9800's as i have one client working fine
 
This happens to me on occasion. You can restart the client and see what happens. Just to make certain, the first client will have the -gpu 0 flag, the second client will have the -gpu 1 flag, and the third client will have the -gpu 2 flag. These flags are added in the shortcut properties of each client where the target window is. You probably know this already but mentioning it in case some people are visiting for the first time.
 
I've restarted the client several times and i get the same thing. I do have the -gpu things in the shortucut
 
I believe the problem stems from trying to mix the 285 with the 9800GT's and their different shader counts in the same system. You must have all cards with the same shader count to fold on them concurrently in the same box.

Well that kinda sux... guess i'll just have to put together a folding box.....
 
Yep, it's possible the mixing of the two different architectures can cause problems. I never did this before and can't comment from experience. However, some people have done this and they reported it working but with reduced performance. Others may have posted about crashes but can't recall at this point. I believe Zero did post about the possibility of crashes in a recent thread.

To be absolutely certain the crashes are induced by mixing architectures, you can remove the GTX285 from you system temporarily and try folding with your two 9800s and see if the crashes continue.

I still get that and I've added flags that were supposed to get rid of it.

Just keep an eye on the client; check them every once in awhile (I check mine every 8-12 hrs). Sometimes they go days before the EUE/24hr pause, sometimes they only go hours before it comes up. :(

Seems like an issue with the 57xx WU's.

Welcome to the team...don't be discouraged that there's guys with a million billion points :D I finally realized every little bit helps (and everyone will tell you the same). :)

When you installed the GPU app, did you create additional work folders for each GPU?
 
So... after not winning the Free givaway i went out and purchased some hardware to get these guys up and running, Looking like i'm gonna get about 4-5K ppd out of each one... I'm using a old 3500+(single core) 939, on xp, should i run a Cpu client on it too? or is it worth it?
 
If it's just for folding.... why not run a single client.

You can circumvent that by just setting the priority on the GPU clients to "slightly higher" in the client configuration menu.

I'd say "why not" too if the rig is just for folding. I have a 939 FX-55 rig that's folding 24/7 even though it only makes like 330 PPD, lol. I need a GPU to put in it, but I'm broke and I can't win any contests on here it seems, hah.


 
Set GPU to slightly higher and cpu client to the lowest setting.
