depending on what he gave for it it may have been a good deal.

Otherwise he either doesn't need anything powerful and found that adequate or... well... Iunno.

3dsmax...no real gaming besides a little bit of CS. That card i snagged for 80 bucks, can't go wrong.

I would have gone with the 74GB Raptor and the 8800GT 512MB personally. Otherwise not too bad.

I would have gone for a WD6400AAKS, which transfers files faster than my WD1500ADFD (raptor). Not a bad build, though. Thanks for the pic! :D

I haven't done any research on that but I find that hard to believe.

Raptors own synthetic benchmarks, but my experience with a 74gb Raptor was that it was expensive and hard to tell apart in terms of actual performance from my Seagate drives. Meh.

The Raptor finds the files faster, which doesnt do much for overall performance, apparently. My KS loads windows faster, and can transfer a single 4.7GB file faster -- to and from my RAID0 array. If its a bunch of files, the performance difference is less noticeable.

Synthetic? I got synthetic... but I was making my statement based off of my personal experiences with both drives...

Those were posted in the HDTune score thread, too. So if you're interested in others: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1284410

I thought we were talking about the 150GB model? I know the 74GB drive is long in the tooth at this point and its' behind the curve compared to newer conventional SATA drives.
