Alright, here goes. After years of saving and months of agonizing, I've finally re-upped and gotten back into the enthusiast scene. To show you what I mean, here's what I'm running now:

2x 1.6GHz (P4-based) Xeon O/C to 3GHz (can't do 3.2 anymore, doh!)
ASUS PC-DL
2GB (4 x 512MB) OCZ PC-3200
Geforce 6800 GT AGP
Creative Audigy 2
300GB & 250GB HD's, from WD I believe
PC P&C 510W Turbo-Cool (aka Old Faithful)
Optiquest POS TN-panel 20" LCD
A seriously gunked up & funky-smelling Intellimouse Explorer 3
One of those Antec mid-tower jobs (you know, the kind everyone used to make)
A really stale Windows XP install that should have died a long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away perhaps)

This thing is loud and obnoxious. It's really a holdover from when I was a broke-ass student and had to sell my DFI LP S939 board and 6800 GT SLI. Originally it existed just for folding but somehow it became my main box. Feeling the need to overcompensate, here's what I've bought (or buying in the next few days):

Core i7 920
ASUS P6T Deluxe w/ the Palm thing (what the hell, right?)
6GB Corsair PC3-12800 (9-9-9-24)
2x EVGA GTX 260
Creative X-Fi Titanium (no, not the silly Fatal1ty edition)
2x 300GB RAID 0 (OK, so I wimped out & took a drive out of the home server, sue me)
OCZ 800W EliteXStream
BenQ FP241VW (no more TN - woohoo!)
A fresh smelling Logitech MX 1100
Cooler Master HAF 932 - if this does not scream E-PENIS I don't know what does ...
Vista Ultimate x64 ('cause, you know, I gots to)

I would call this a massive e-penis extension, but that would be inaccurate. The previous e-penis had shriveled up and died a long time ago. No, my friends, I've just grafted on an entirely new & massively oversized e-penis.

Oh yes, I looked at the Q6600. I even looked at the Q9550. And surely 1 GTX 260 would be sufficient. Cheap but champion performer Gigabyte UD3R, 4GB GEIL/Corsair/special-of-the-day DDR2, tame but easy on the wallet. I could even keep the TN monitor. Sounds nice, right?

But oh no, my e-penis felt limp and soggy. It needed a major Viagra injection. And so, like buying too many rounds at the bar and going home with the ugly chick, I spent too much and will probably wake up tomorrow wondering what in the hell I just did.

Then again, seeing as how next year I will be a broke-ass student once again, I suppose indulging while my bank account can take the hit is not so bad.

Sorry if I offered TMI, but I just felt the overwhelming need to share. Scorn and ridicule welcome.

HAHAHA! well we are all glad your e penis is black man status.....Your post cracks me up!

I really would go with a different PSU... especially if the $80 AR deal is still going on the BFG ES-800. Beats the hell out of the OCZ.

If it is, please point the way. It wasn't when I ordered.

Besides, I have a soft spot for the whole one-giant-12V-rail thing. 62 amps, bizatches ;)

Excellent build  I love my HAF 932, the case fans are really quiet too. That will be a major upgrade for you, keep us posted.

*1 inch of e-peen justified! Many to go ...*

Good to hear. This box here uses 70mm CPU fans and 80mm case fans, and they ain't quiet. I'm about ready to throw the f'ing thing out the window.

That will be a major upgrade for you

Yeah, I think so :D

Keep us posted.

Oh, I fully intend to shove my fresh and new (hard and long?) e-penis in EVERYONE's face. As long as it's fresh and new, that is.

By the way, devil22, I believe your schwartz is as big as mine ...

OCZ makes some pretty cheap PSUs, but the elite X stream isnt one, its a solid unit, just expensive. But for $70 after a $40 mir, the ES 800 is outstanding. Check out the review, its basically all praises. I understand your need to have a big juicy 12V rail, and even though they are split. The ES 800W can output its entire 800W on the 12V rails alone so long as you provide a dead-load to the other rails. Check out Hard OCPs supplimentary test.

but yeah, looks good, but it'l look better when its cranked to 3.6GHz.

That said, in terms of gaming performance, going with Core 2 and two GTX 260's (or three ) would give you more return/$

$99 AR, I'll live. In all seriousness, the OCZ unit is on the "bought" side of the equation (as in, it's sitting on my table right now). I was looking for a deal on it and jumped when I saw one, only because I never expected the BFG unit would ever be anywhere close to that cheap. And really, I was mostly kidding about the 12V rails, doesn't make a bit of difference IRL.

My e-peen & I will NOT be satisfied until 4GHz is achieved. :D

You're completely missing the point. My e-peen simply wasn't satisfied with a Core 2. Though for some reason I did draw the line at 2 GTX 260s ...
