So I decided to build a new machine this season and went with an LGA 2011 Socket.

For a quick specs comparison my "old" machine:

  • Asus P6T Deluxe
  • I7 940 (2.93 GHz)
  • 12 GB of Corsair RAM @ 1333
  • XFX Radeon HD 5870 XXX
  • Corsair 1000 Watt PSU.

New machine specs:

  • Asus P9X79 Pro
  • I7 3930k
  • 32Gb Kingston HyperX @ 1333
  • SLI'd eVGA GTX 580's
  • Corsair 1050 Watt PSU
  • Corsair SSD (6Gb/s - Boot)
  • WD Black 1.5TB (6Gb/s - Storage)

Yes it's at stock, and I must admit it will likely stay at stock speeds. I can't do very much OC'ing anymore because of working from home when I have my work VM's running. VMWare Workstation does not like OC'ing very much.
 
Nice case. Wish I was as good with cable management. Good job overall.

Maybe it is time for me to upgrade my case.

Most of it came from New Egg. I got the Motherboard and CPU from TigerDirect as TD had the 3930 in stock and NewEgg didn't at the time. Total cost was about $3,200.00 (before shipping).

It was. I can now run all of my VM's at once and still have more than enough room to play.
