As title says, since I'm a cheap bastard, I've put it off for awhile. After space on my current drives got low, I convinced myself it was a good idea to get an SSD. After reading a few forums for installation tips, the installation went very smooth. After the first reboot to desktop, I was simply floored. I think I seen more of a difference in this hdd upgrade than when I went from a q6600 Core Duo to an i7. I'm completely happy.
But, this leads to a question... my board has the Marvell controller for it's SATA3 slots (Gigabyte X58). Many people say Marvell controllers absolutely suck and recommend using the SATA2 ports instead. Is this good advice? Would there be a noticeable increase in speed by switching to the SATA2? Right now I'm getting about 400/325...
