What kind of speakers are those? They look pretty tight... How are they for Doom3? ;)

I think when he said b&w he meant Black & White speakers. I'll try looking it up.

Yeah, I swear I had heard the name Black & White when describing speakers before. Oh well. That's probably why I couldn't find anything on it.

Bowers & Wilkins
British Company

The fronts are 650 a pair after tax
the center was 370 after tax

Still going to buy 500 dollar b&w sub and 500 dollar rears

Those B&Ws are pretty nice. A buddy of mine has a pair of their nautilus 801's....something like $10,000 a pair. BOOOOOM! I had the polk RM7500 system on my computer before, they were great for movies (600watt sub and all), but too much boom for games. Now I have been using JAMO towers on the computer...$1000 for the front two speakers...really kick @$$ since I run them through a 2x500watt power amp.

Is the pair 602's? I have a pair of those and they are incredible for the price. I'd love to be able to afford a pair of the low-end Nautilus speakers.

Sweet setup!!

wow dude, thats some sound set up right frickin in your ears nice otherwise ;)

All that work and you're still using the cheesy wallpaper that comes with Windows, :p

Anyway, I was wondering if those B&Ws are magnetically shielded? I figure they are or you'd be getting some massive distortion on your monitor...

Do they sound very good sitting that close to you?

Another question... I like the way you have your receiver and case sitting like that. I am wondering how or if the heat generated by the receiver is raising your case and/or CPU temps at all?

Well, it looks good anyhow. I like the all black color coordination.

...now get that damn cat away from the computer... :D

the center channel is shielded but the pair are not; however, only at high volumes will the pair produce any type of distortion on my monitor. temperatures of my case are seemingly unaffected by the receiver sitting on top, as they are the same as before (when the case was upright).

I don't know if sitting this close to the speakers will impact the quality of what I hear but it sounds pretty damn good to me. Any sort of DVD-audio on my audigy 2 ZS and the BMW sounds too good. Games also sound really great.
