ordered the last peices this moring

All in a thermaltake Armor Series case
520W 34A PSU
GF mx4000 PCI video
1GB of G.Skill Ram
Opteron 148
Highpoint Rocket Raid 2320 PCI-E SATA-II 8 Port card
8 x WD RE 250GB drives (the 320's were out of stock)
2 x WD SE 80GB drives for Raid 1 OS drive.
ECS NF4 Mobo with dual 1000Mbps LAN
2 black optical drives just to match the case.
some 24" SATA cables

gonna put it on my Gigabit network as a raid 5 mapped network drive.

Looks good, and looks like it didn't totally break the bank either :)

how much did it cost you? where did you get the parts from? Pics? Why 2 optical drives? What OS will you be running? Pics? :D

What PSU? I hope it's a recommended one... And other specs would be nice, too - what OS are you running, what RAID level, what's it storing?

PS: At that cost, why not wait for the 320s to come back into stock?

Raid 5 like I said in the original post
the PSU I've had for a while it can easily handle this load.
as far as OS I'm going back and forth between XP Pro and 2000 server.
and actually in the case of the cost between the 320's and the 250's I get 80GB more space from the 8 250's vs. the 6 320's I was going to use and pay slightly less.

I'd have to tally the cost I bought the stuff over the past few months.
Not 100% on the OS yet. and the 2 optical drives just because I've got 2 slots on the front of my armor that needed to be filled.

What are you going to do?

7 drives in a RAID 5 w/ 1 as a hot spare?

Use all 8?
8 drives in Raid 5
2 drives in Raid 1
I'll probably keep a cold spare sitting around here.
