Have never posted in this section before, but come here to look quite a bit. Anyway, I am finally replacing my very old 2MP Kodak camera that I got sometime ago. I stopped using it a while back for the obvious reason of lack of detail in large prints. So my budget was around $500 for the camera and accessories. I am not a pro photographer and just like to do the point and shoot thing so I went with the Canon A640 10MP camera. Have been reading a lot about all different ones and this one stood out so I got it. I considered the G7 but for what I do the extra cost and features was not worth the ~$180 difference. I got the camera and a 2GB mem card for $366 with 2-3 shipping from buydig.com . Need to just get a decent case and some NiMh batteries for it and I will be all set. Time to start taking some pictures again. Will be nice now for the fiance and I to not use disposals anymore :).

Well congrats it is always nice to get new toys. I myself just picked up a D80 last week-end. :D

Well the Circut City in Phx had the d50 for just under $500. It was with the kit lense. I missed the Staples $400. D50 deal. Pissed me off I was going to buy 2 or, 3 and, give them as gifts.

thats a damn good deal. I really wanted to get something a little more high end but I needed to make sure I got something that was user friendly for the better half as she does not like things that are terribly complex to use and would get frustrated then not use it :).

The D50 is easy to use and, at that price it leaves you cash for the treal costly lenses. Also I recommend the SanDisk Extreme3 it upload the pics from the camera very fast. But remember the D50 only supports up to 2 gigs.
